Hi, We are tiling the bathroom which measures 93 inches high a 53 inches wide x 79 inches long. I make this to be 16.2 square metres ???

I have purchased 17 boxes of tiles which have 0.76 metres per box. How many boxes will I need ? My husband thinks we need another 4 boxes !

How did you calculate this as 16.2 m2?

And does the bathroom have things like door and window openings?

You need to measure the area that will be tiled and then allow for cuts, wastage and spares for later.

I measured it by multiplying the height by the width etc etc. I have knocked
off 2 metres for door and window

I'm not a tiler but:
93 in = 2.3m
79 in = 2m
53 in = 1.3m

Two walls are 2.3m x 2m so both make 9.2 sq m
Two walls are 2.3m x 1.3m so both make 6 sq m
Together that comes to approx 15 .3 sq m less 2 sq m for window etc is 13.3 sq m. You have bought 17 x 0.76 = 12.92 sq m. That's too precise as you haven't made an allowance for wastage - not all cut tiles will fit somewhere else. I would get a couple more boxes. My tile shop will accept returns of unopened boxes within 28 days. Make sure you get the same batch number as shades can vary.

I'd typed a longer response myself but then I realised that the OP hadn't said what surfaces were to be tiled - 4 walls? Floor? Part walls, Part floors?

Tile sizes will also impact on wastage from cuts. And tile material will impact on wastage.

Good advice to buy more than you need - you get the same shade batch that way, you can usually return overs and you can keep spares for later - in a couple of years they probably won't be selling that tile & if they are you won't get an exact shade match.
