Hi,

Just wondered if anyone could give me a ball park figure to supply and fut new ballustrading to stairs and landing. Just want basic spindles and posts that i can paint white.

Stairs approx 3.5 metres (13 stairs) and return on landing is 1.8 metres.

Currently have a metal and hardboard ballustrade which is horrible - I will be removing this in time for the new one to be fitted.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have read the Rules of the forum, but it only says it is not advisable to ask for prices..... not that you can't ask for a rough idea.

I only want to know if I am looking at around £500 or £1000??? Thats all..... nothing set in stone, just a guide to know whether I am being ripped off when I get a quote.

Thanks

I hear and understand what you say / your predicament, but forum rule 9 actualy says

"9 ) It's not advisable to ask costs / prices or a ball park figure.

This is because it depends on several factors:
Your location, access to job, material costs, labour rate etc.
Any prices mentioned should not be relied upon.

There is no such thing as an "average" house (since your requirements will be different)and you are best advised to get several quotes. "

it also used to say "can't see it cant quote it"

All i can suggest is also what forum rule 9 used to say

"get several quotes then you will know for sure"

Its sort of like asking you how tall am i? you have no idea because you cant see.

or to put it another way

i say for arguments sake 1k, the person quoting comes round and say 2.5K mate.
then you say

some one i dont know and will never meet, on a forum says its only 1k

Thanks Matty Supra, thats all I needed.

I live in the Birmingham area, so that gives me a good ball park figure (If I get quoted over £1000 now, then I know to question why).

Its nice to receive some helful feedback to what I consider to be a relevatively straightforward question (For someone with no real DIY or Tradesman experience).

Its alright asking for two or three quotes, but knowing my luck I would get 3 who wanted to rip me off!!!! At least I now have a rough idea of where I should be aiming.

Thanks once again.

ok then, let us know what the qutes really are when you get them please, and i would have said 900 -1500 respectivly
