I'm installing a washing machine and dishwasher into a new kitchen, now the standpipe and cold feed are pretty straight forward, the question I have is........how much sapce is required to the left and right of the appliance?

I'm fitting the kitchen into a bare room and with the worktop not being fitted for a few weeks I'm having to guess the gap -of course it's a lot easier to fit the appliances when there is nothing on top of them so I don't want to make the opening too tight nor conversely too big. What's the norm? 5mm either side? 10mm? I've the luxury of some tolerance to work with here.

Many thanks

The more room you can leave the easier it will be to get the appliances in & out for maintenance.I have seen them touching the sides of cupboards, but it makes it a real pain to move them especially if they stop mid-cycle, full of clothes & water.
