WRONG

Anybody who understands the Single Market and Customs Union knew that leaving it meant significant increase in non tariff barriers.

Anybody who understands international trade knew that U.K. did not lose sovereignty as a member and would not gain sovereignty when it left

Anybody who understands fishing knew we wouldn’t benefit from leaving

Yes we knew exactly how Brexit would play out.
So if you’re complaining about it now, why exactly did you vote to leave the EU and don’t just say "I was fick then but I’m not fick anymore".

...if you want to understand why not only Trump but now large parts of both parties have reoriented themselves to support tariffs, I think the key text is not Casablanca but a 2013 paper by David Autor, David Dorn, and Gordon Hanson known as the “China shock” paper.

The authors found that the surge of US manufacturing imports from China between 1991 and 2007 led to large job losses in the US manufacturing sector, losses that were concentrated in a few particular geographic locations. Areas affected saw wages fall for a surprisingly long time, and uptake of government benefit programs like unemployment and disability insurance.

Read on @ VOX but the interpretation of that research is seperated by politics and prejudice by Republicans who wave the flag and demand a return to the American hegemony of the 1950s.

The Trump team, as Paul Krugman observed during the first trade war, is acting like “a motorist who runs over a pedestrian, then tries to fix the damage by backing up — and runs over the victim a second time.”

Im not sure I understand that, the link goes to a piece about a democrat supporting additional tariffs against Russia in regards to the Ukraine war.

All human beings lies, where does that take us
Subtle difference between Betty saying she made her own cake when she actually bought it in a shop, and politicians telling porkies to the electorate and/or their own party, porkies that can have significant socioeconomic implications.
