How to clean a leather mat ??

I have a mat in my hall (1m x 1.5m)
The warp is thread, the weft is strips (5mm wide) of leather.
No manufacturers label or any other info.
It is dirty and I would like to clean it.
Any suggestions? thanks in advance.
