While cleaning out a central heating radiator, I managed to spill some of the contents on some paving stones in the garden. Any suggestions as to what I could use to clean the mess? The stains are from the black sludge rather than the red stuff. Thanks for any help. ;)

Patio cleaner?

Or citric acid ( Fernox DS40 ) !

What stupid person did the cleaning on the patio slabs?

might be tricky

although acids will attack the iron oxide (magnetite) sediment, they will also attack the concrete :( (you use acids to clean off cement stains from brickwork)

Start by giving it a good scrub

the black stains are usually permanent :( and have probably soaked into the porous surface.

Maybe if we get a chemist on here he will know what might change the oxide into a material you can remove.

Chlorine, but you will need to do all the slabs, otherwise one will look much cleaner.

The patio cleaner ( hydrochloric acid ) is probably much cheaper!
