Need to shorten a cold water pipe that has a 1/2"-15mm coupler. The pipe is the old (non copper) metal pipe. Whats the best way do do it.

1/2" Taper die ?

1/2" BSP die

Wouldn't advice it if the pipe is old, as it will crush the minute you get started, if you want to go ahead anyway, hire a block die and go very slowly, turnng it on a couple of turns then winding it back and go again.

Use plenty of cutting oil

Can you go back to the previous fitting on the pipe, unscrew the iron pipe and screw in a 1/2" male to 15mm copper adaptor?
