How to fasten oak sleeper fire surround?

I have three sleeper-like pieces of oak, which I'm going to use as a fire surround. However, I'm unsure how to affix these to the wall. The two uprights will need securing to the wall, and the top securing to the wall and/or uprights.

Any ideas?

Screw to rear of 'legs' and leave protruding to rear and bury in plasterwork securing to wall then make good.
The legs support the weight of the top so again plate to rear [2-3 depending on size]and screw to timer then bury exposed section in wall secure with screws and plug and make good, this prevents the top rolling off or movement.
Metalwork running behind legs upward behind the top do no need burying since they are hidden by the top.
