Sorry if this isnt the right place to post. I have recently moved into house and the boiler has not been used for a long time so it needs topping up - pressure is well under 1 but I cannot find how to do this and dont have a manual. I checked on FAQ and found the filling loop picture nad thus the filling loop but one end has a screw driver slot the other a nut - neither has a lever. I know that this may be dense but how do I fill this up?
Thank you

A picture would be a start to help us ID. The screw slot is instead of the lever. Try turning that a quarter turn and see what happens.

You dont say on what basis you "moved into the house" but normally there will be a landlord or vendor who should have ensured that the boiler is working safely and correctly.

If its a landlord there should be a gas safety certificate!

If you have bought it then it would be a good idea to get the boiler serviced and the system checked for safety.

Thanks. I have tryed turning the screw but nothing happened so I put it back in the same place - the nut on the other side will not budge. Ive always had the pleasure of newish boilers so am completely baffled by what should be easy? Pictures below.

Hi
Thanks Yes there is a gas certificate - which was completed 2 months ago when I got keys I rent so if needs be I will have to get the agents to get someone out however as I am working out of town a lot I thought if it was something that was easy (?) I would not be beaten. The gauge is far far nearer zero that one.

In that case I would suggest you get the agents to send someone. When you moved in the system should have been tested and left working. Normall the Agents/Owner will have a key to use in an emergency.

Furthermore, the filling loop should be working properly if they want you to do any topping up. If not then you should call them whenever it falls below about 0.8 Bar.

Under normal circumstances, it would be fairly safe to just try turning the screw head 1/4 turn. This however, looks like a complete bothch job done by a builder in stead of a plumber/RGI.

As you are a tenant, it should be working anyway, so let the landlord sort it out.
