How to fix a gutter?

A new joint would've made this job a 2 minute thing for a couple of pounds.
Cutting 5mm off the gutters is a pi$$ take.
He moans about sealant on the rubber and then he does exactly that.
He's using a ladder on a flat roof without anything underneath; roofers (and everyone else with a bit of pride) usually carry a piece of plywood for such occasions.
I wonder if that multi coloured stack is one of his specials...
BTW, not a plumber or a roofer, but I can do better than that by a mile.

Couldn't be bothered to watch the whole video, but why would anyone use white spirit to clean a gutter join?
