Hi all

Coffee table (pictured) is all glossy and light.

I want it more like the other pic which shows my corner unit.

Is it just a case of sanding the varnish off, then waxing the wood and adding some sort of non-glossy sealant to it?

You don't need to sand it - in fact that's really going a bit too far IMHO. Rather, get some steel wool, something like 0 or 2/0, make it up into a ball (not scrunched-up, but get the fibres all running in the same general direction) then "sand" the surfaces with that instead. Same way as you would do if you were sanding bare wood - keep with the grain direction. That should reduce the shininess and a coat of clear wax buffed on then off shoukld seal it and give you more of an eggshell sheen.

That's great thanks buddy - I'll do exactly that.

Appreciate your advice - have a great weekend!
