I would of thought you could. What connections are on the back of your tv?
I think you need to have a digital optical output connection on the back of your tv..

Connect from the optical out on your tv to the optical in on your receiver.. You should be able to get a digital optical cable cheap enough from somewhere like Amazon etc.
