Hi guys

Since we had our old larger steel pipes changed out to 22mm copper for our gas supply by our gas safe engineer, the boiler seems to be much slower at getting hot water to temperature. Particularly noticeable in the shower, less so the bathroom sink, both of which are situated no more than 5m from our Ideal Isar HE 30 combi boiler. The only pipes that were changed were about 1/3 of the gas supply pipe from the stopcock under the stairs. The rest has remained the same

Sink isn't too bad. Maybe 20 seconds, whereas it used to be almost instant. The shower reaches temperature in a similar time but then fluctuates and doesn't become stable until 2mins in. It used to be perfect after 20 seconds. So a lot of wasted water and heat!

At the same time as the pipe change, the PCB was switched out in order to make the LED display function properly which it has done since.

I cant help but think the problem is related to these changes but I can't see how.

Looking online the symptoms seem to be related to a blocked or slow flowing heat exchanger. Seems coincidental but worth a try.

So what do you guys think?

I was the one who figured out to change the PCB to fix our control panel problem. Our gas engineer couldn't solve the issue over 2 years and eventually recommended a new boiler, hence why I'm trying to solve this myself

I don’t think it is allowed to give out gas related advice unless you are a registered gas installer and posting in the correct section that only gas installers can post in.

Unlikely to be the heat exchanger IMO. I would start by checking the gas pressure at the boiler, and burner with the boiler on, to see if it's lower than design (not to mention regs)

More likely to be a blocked plate heat exchanger with those symptoms
