Hi all,

Ive had these new windows installed. I noticed this blue plastic. I thought it would be a simple case of pulling it off, but it seems to be within the frame! Its a devil of a job to try and remove. Is there a special technique to do it? Should the installers have removed the plastic before installing?

Thanks

Run a stanley knife blade carefully down the groove from both sides of the joint, it should then peel out without visible remaining

I would have asked the installers see what they say
You just never know but presumably it can be removed

well yes, the cleanest will be to remove that internal beading and then remove the film that was trapped between the frame and the beading. Job for the window fitters, if they are willing to come back and do that

I thought they would have removed the plastic before putting the windows together. I mean, why wouldnt you? Is it straightforward for them to remove the internal beading?

Good idea about using a stanley knife, and I tried similar, but becuase its a white frame, it still shows,

The glazing bead really needs to be removed to get the trapped tape out, quite slap dash of them really to leave it like that. You could run a sharp blade down the join but be careful not to veer off and mark the plastic which also looks like its foiled woodgrain, I'd get them back

If you can't get them back, as yorks says, spend some time doing it with a knife. I've found that a proper scalpel/kraft knife has a narrower blade and it's super sharp, so perfect. Just don't let the cut ride up away from the joint and into the frame (seems obvious, but that's what I'd be worried about).
