Anyone any ideas as to how this grill removes?
I don't want to force it the wrong way for fear of making further problems.

The issue is slow draining. I have tried Wickes Bathroom drain unblocker but hasn't made a difference. I'm suspecting a manual extraction of the crud is needed.

Or one or 2 hooked screwdrivers should do it too.

Some of the flush fitting McAlpine chromed brass wastes do get very tight - They did come with a hook tool as is referenced in your diag

You can buy them - tho a quick call to McAlpine may sort it out, they're usually pretty good.
