How to repair cracks in plaster

Hi

I recently bought an old house.

My guess is within the last couple of years it has had fresh plastered walls and ceilings throughout.

I have come across various cracks in this plaster in every room. Mostly hairline but a few you can get your nail in.

What is the best way to fix these?

So far in one room I scraped along the crack to create a V ridge and filled/rubbed down with filler.
Is that the best way?
