Repairing hairline cracks along Plasterboard joints

What is the best method to cure (permantly) hairline cracks in the ceiling running along the original plaster board joints

It's a waste of time attempting to fill them, they will almost certainly reappear. Check the security of the boards & whack in some PB screws if necessary to give extra support along the edges of the join & firm it all up. Apply reinforcing tape along the join (I sometimes use overlapping strips if the crack is bad), PVA & re-skim the area, blending in around 250mm either side of the join but if the boards have been put up incorrectly or you regularly jump around on the floor above or in the loft, they may still re-appear. Done properly you will never see the difference in levels.
