I need to replace a blown sealed unit in a wooden window frame. I have seen that a brown sealant "tape" can be used instead of the traditional putty. Does anyone know the name of this tape and whether it is user friendly?

Thanks

you need to ask for butyl glazing tape yep its easy self adhesive comes on a roll. fit it so it sits above the frame by a few mm this should leave a couple of mm gap between the tape and the base of the frame . Fill this gap with a small bead of butyl or low modulous silicon and the fit the glass. repeat for the other side or iff not enough space just a bead of sealant on the inside.
trim off the excess tape with a sharp stanley.
