How to stop these?

Windows 7 and Chrome browser. Repeatedly getting these blank windows while navigating through some sites including this one. Am able to close them, but it's very annoying and time wasting. Malwarebytes detected nothing and I run Windows Security Essentials.

Do you have any chrome extensions such as ad blockers?

Might be a good idea to try uninstalling chrome, then reinstalling. then try disabling extensions

Thanks for the advice. It was an extension installed by a third party. How does that happen? I'm very careful online. It has now been removed and normal service is resumed. Thanks opps.
