My windows are scrolling/zooming by themselves, whether up, down or sideways.

I may have brought his on myself with a mouse setting, but I reversed that.
having replaced the mouse and keyboard, I have done
a system restore
Tried troubleshooters in Windows
tried a system restore - it found a file which stopped it, possibly something quarantined by MalwareBytes which I tried,
Tried windows repair:

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.5737]
(c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.19041.3636

Image Version: 10.0.19045.5737

[==========================100.0%==========================] The restore operation completed successfully.

Now what??
this is unkown territory for me.
It does it in Chrome and Firefox.

I don't have any oinstallation stuff any more.

I'm about to run scannow, so will go for a short walk, I may be some time.....

Edit
It said it fouind some corrupt files and replaced them
Problem still there

Restart PB
Problem still there.

Seeth fume.
Whenever I press Ctrl, the screen zooms right out.
If I put the mouse in a file selection window, it scrolls to the bottom.

I think I would attempt to narrow down the problem to either the keyboard, or mouse.
Keep one disconnected, use Windows as usual and see what happens, before swapping over to the other.

Through the ease of access settings, Windows key + U, there is the option for moving the mouse cursor with the keypad.
Similarly there is the on-screen keyboard option.

It may not make a difference, but it could help narrow down the issue.

Thanks, yes those may help keep me going

I have replaced both the keyboard and mouse.
One mouse is Logitech, one is Corsair, so they use different drivers.

I replaced my ancient Logitech kbd with a new one, same model. I have a different one I could try, but haven't yet.

I think I updated the logitech drivers.

The next step is some sort of major download of windows 10, right? But this seems to be shallower than that - mouse conflict or something.

Just tried Safe Modebefore I saw your message - same result. Move mouse to left column in File expolorer, it scrolls to the bottom by itself.
Are startup services in the same place?

Win + R
"MSConfig"
WHat am I looking for - thet opens File Explorer at "Roaming".

I see that if I reinstall windows it removes all my other programs.

Er, can I force an update to latest version?

1. Right click taskbar, select Task Manager click on Startup tab and disable all items. Reboot computer, if still the same repeat previous steps and enable all items. If sorted problem is with one of the items disabled. Enable them one at a time and reboot. Check for problem each time until you find the item which is causing the issue and leave disabled if not important.
2. Right click start button select Command Prompt (Admin) type msconfig this will give you the Boot Startup options also.

Disabled everything.
STill have the roblem.
If I hover over a volume slider, it slides by itself!

From I've found, the next thing would be to reistall WINdows which I can doo from a download, but ebven the lest invasive removes all other programs. ??
Can I mend /replace windiws only<?

It's very much disabling the PC - I can't use any drop box because they close instantly, all sorts

If I press Ctrl, the screen zooms out. If it's a virus, it's clever because it's a b----dy nuisance!

By Jove He's got it!!!
It showed 2 HID mice and two Logitec.

Deleting the logitec ones, they just came back again, so I right-click Disabled them.

Ihad been phoning people and was just on the point of unplugging about twenty cables etc etc and take it off to a mender.

SO you saved me at least a minimum charge. Props to @@tlan !!

The odd little fact here is that I hadn not (at that stage) added any mice.
I DID try the scrolling windows thing to see what it did, IT caused a latch-up somehow.
THEN I added new stuff which would only have made things worse... I'd only turned the old mouse off.
