How to temporarily cover grab handle threads?

I have recently moved into a new home and will cover renovations at a future date.
The current situation with the bath is that it's otherwise usable but the in-bath grab handle is broken and I have removed all plastic shards of handle.
However, the threads for the screw fixtures (one at each end) are still fitted in the inner side of the bath and I could like to know how to either cover them safely for now, or remove them and safely cover the holes.
The bath will be replaced during renovations in due course but the sharp screw threads present a temporary safety issue.
The threads are approximately 1/2 inch in diameter and protrude 3/4 inch outward into the bath.
The grab handle was located on the wall side of the bath and it's currently impossible to access that side without doing irreversible damage.
Can anyone recommend either some sort of safety cover or other temporary solution that I can put onto these or tell me how to remove the screws (pliers and twisting?) and cover the holes that will be subsequently present in a way that is waterproof?
I have searched for screw covers but only get results in the realm of plastic covers for the top of a screw, nothing for this application, and I suppose this is not a common request or part.
Many thanks.

Get a small ball like a squash ball and make a small hole in it, shove it on the thread.
Of wrap the thread in a ton of masking tape, possibly covered with some silicone.
You could also buy a bit of heat shrink wrap

If your siliconing skills are up to it, get a length of 50mm wide flat pvc and make a neat box over the top to ' Box them in '. Deffo only a temp measure though !

Plastic dome head caps to fix over them? Typically black but you may find white. Silicone into place.
Or wrap self-amalgamating 'rubber' tape round and round to have a softer lump.

Or fashion something to cover the remains of the bolt using Milliput white epoxy putty... smooth off with a touch of water on a wet finger.

You could go 'gung ho' and smash them out with a hammer (or cut off with a suitable power tool) then fill the hole left with silicone or Milliput. Milliput is good waterproof stuff when set. https://www.milliput.com/white.html

Here's a picture. Turns out it's pretty much exactly 1cm diameter and there are two spaced 16.5cm apart.
We don't want to go through the hassle of tracking down a new one that has the correct fitting and length, any extra nonsense fitting it, etc., so are just looking to smooth it all off temporarily for safety as the bath will be replaced by next summer. I've looked at countless photos of grab handles and not seen ones that look like they match. I suspect this handle came as part of the bath in the original build in the mid-90s.

Domed caps or a couple of squash balls sound like the ideal low-maintenance solution, so will give those a try. Much appreciated for all the suggestions.
