How to wire LED strip lights into lighting circuit

Hi all,

First time posting I want to replace the florescent cabinet lighting in the kitchen with LED strip lights like these

Now if my maths is correct the listing says its 36W for the full 5m and there are 600 LED's on the strip so each LED is 0.06W.

So I would need a line driver for a 3m strip to replace a a fluorescent tube so that would be 22W for a 3m strip.

Is it ok to use a line driver that is rated for 30W like this one,

or would that blow the strip?[/url]

The power rating is the maximum that the driver can deliver.
So long as the driver is 12VOLTS and is rated at least at your calculated 22watts everything will be fine.

So, yes, that 30wayy driver is OK.

Is it ok to install a high powered line driver before the wall switch or should the line driver be installed after the switch just before the LED strip?

Always switch on the mains side, otherwise the driver will be powered up all the time.
Also many drivers do not like to be left with no load on the output terminals.
