How would you fix this brick? The frost has got to it over the last 40 years and eroded almost halfway through.
It's behind a gas pipe.
Any ideas?

Raggle out mortar, remove brick, turn through 180 degrees and fit back in.

But do you want to be bothered after 40 years or is your building not a bog standard house.

As the mortar you use will almost certainly be different from the surrounding stuff your efforts to effect what is in effect only a cosmetic repair may well be in vain.

If you still want to carry on and the back of the brick is different then "steal" a brick from an area where it isn't so prominent and simply swap bricks.

The gas pipe is too close to the brick, so it can't be removed. Should I fill the holw with mortar or paint it with some sealent?

You can still do it, even with the pipe there, it will just be a bit more awkward.
Maybe put some plastic sleeving over the pipe, then pepper it with an sds. I did a complete doorway this way (took bloody ages !)
Don't try and fill with cement, it'll fall out as soon as the frost gets it.

I agree. Hack/drill out the joints. Once loosed turn the brick sideways and it will come out. Will be a right pain in the arse but should be achievable.
