humming refill

Hi All . I would appreciate some advice regarding my toilet cistern, whenever I flush the toilet, I can hear a humming noise throughout the house as the toilet refills, once full the humming stops, At the same time as the hum I can feel a vibration on the cold water pipes and taps. Any ideas?

It's water hammer, caused by the washer in the valve replace the diaphram washer and it will stop humming

Check the condition of the seating on the inlet orifice. It may be rough or cracked and this wont help either but is often overlooked. Will be either red or white

Or yellow, if it's a brass seat in a brass valve, in which case it will not crack.
