Hi Guys,

I got called around to my Grans to do the family duty as the fan in her cooker hood has stopped turning. The power is still there, the lights still work, and when you move the switch for the fan it starts to hum, gtting progressively louder on each higher setting. From this i am assuming that it is the fan itself that is at fault.

The model is a Hygena APL2120. There is a label on the unit saying 09/92 so i'm guessing that is probably its age.

It all looks pretty well sealed so i don't want to go breaking into it if there isn't much chance of fixing it, will it be a viable fix or should i just replace it?

Cheers.

If its the conventional type of cooker hood, they are so cheap I think I would be inclined to replace (thats if it does get used for more than the lights)

yeah it gets used all the time, straight after posting this thread i went to look at prices and you're probably right, at that price it might aswell be replaced.
