high it keeps stalling after 20 mins ,ive checkd the pump and it is spinning, ive also put wd40 on the fan does any1 hav any ideas whats up,cheers for your time

thats not what i would call logical fault finding! haha. what is happening then? is boiler trying to fire up and failing? are external controls calling? room stat cylinder stat? what type of system do you have etc.

the boiler is not a combi, the boiler fires up ok stays on 4 up to 20 mins then cuts out then restarts after 2mins,it doesnt sound healthy its got slight squeelish sound the room stat is ok

I know its not a combi! i meant is it s or y plan. when it cuts off feel the pipes above boiler if they are red hot then i think its overheating and you have a circulation problem. if the heat isnt getting away from the boiler quick enough it will keep cycling on off on off and it will be noisy bit of banging etc. if that is the case its probably the pump.

The Ideal Classic is a non-modulating boiler, it's normal for it to cut in and out once the system's up to temperature.

The noise is another matter.

If it was overheating I would expect the overheat trip switch on the boiler to need resetting each time.

When it stops running, check for 240VAC at the boiler terminal. This will tell you if it is receiving a call still from the external controls.

Can you pinpoint where the 'squealing' is coming from? eg the top of the boiler, or perhaps the pump wherever that is fitted?

im a spark so ive proved voltage at the controls, the noise seems 2 b from the centre towards the top,the room stat is fine so wen the boiler shuts down the room stat doesnt click this proving that it is shutn down and not just reaching room temp, the pump is on the top floor the boiler on the ground floor 3 storery house

o.k do the following.
1. check your heating tank is full make sure system hasn't run dry.
2. take screw out of pump if it is that type. push a screw driver into the propeller. is it easy to stop the prop. if yes or if it isnt running pump in knackered. if this is ok and motorised valve is open it could be a blocked cold feed.

already dun the pump its spinning ,and my son has just had a hot bath so i take it the tank is ok?,the fan was maken i noise so ive wd40 it do think it cud b fan related

Could be the fan, but I cannot see the fan starting again within 2 mins if it had seized through heat.

How long has this 'fault' been apparent?

you will most probably have two tanks one for hot water which will be a large tank and a small tank for heating. check this. if fan is seized the boiler wont fire.
