IDEAL E TYPE 80N BGC41 409 07

e types came with open flue and also balanced flue. If yours is balanced then you may be able to put a condenser in the same location depending on tighter fluing constraints, and the need to run suitable condensate drain.

You'd be looking at wall mounted these days.

Pick any quality make of regular boiler or system boiler, you'd have to make sure you have full control of heating and hot water, thermostatic radiator valves on all but the one where the room thermostat is (must leave one rad without trv's or you'll need an automatic bipass.

Thanks Paul, It's balanced, Floor Mounted, I have Thermostatic on all Rads except one, It's on an outside wall. I'm Just not sure which is the best condensing boiler to replace it with i.e. Make and capacity although I shall get a plumber (Corgi) to do it.

Well everyone here will give a different view. It goes swings and roundabouts with manufacturers, and varies from area to area.

Just pay an extra 200 if you can afford it and you'll get double your money's worth.
I bought what I class as the best when I needed a boiler for a flat. I could have bought a cheap boiler and fixed it myself on a routine basis, and then go back to fix all the subsequent leaks in it on a routine basis, but I prefer to sit in an arm chair, well worth another 200 quid, and that's all we are talking about.

Why bother replacing it.

Why not upgrade the controls. A lot cheaper, boiler unlikely to go belly up and unlikely to cost you arm and a leg as the E type is tough as brass tacks.
