Hi

I have an Ideal ISAR m30100 combi boiler, which is about 18 months old. Over the weekend it has decided to keep the radiators on constantly no matter what the thermostat or time clock are switched to. The only way I can cool them is by powering the boiler down completely, but as soon as its powered back up the radiators are hot again.

Anyone have any ideas?

It does sound as if its probably ( hopefully ) an external controls problem.

If the timeclock is one with a plug in backplate then see if you can loosen the screws and remove it and see if that puts off the heating. While its off look at the wiring and see if that is all properly fixed and no wires are touching where they should not.

Thanks for your reply Tony.

The timeclock is a digital one, where as the thermostat is an old thing. Could the thermostat be the problem?

Also someone at work mentioned something about a divertor valve. What does this do? Could it be this?!

Your diverter valve is letting by.

The boiler will pre heat the dhw heat exchanger periodically- this heat is sent round the radiators causing hot rads.

A simple test is to turn on a hot tap, the boiler display will show a D, put your hand on the chtg flow pipe. (Left hand pipe with the pressure gauge attached). If this gets hot then u need a new diverter valve.

Best get the whole thing changed- a simple job and an in expensive part.
