Ideal Mexico 2 boiler click

Hi all,
My boiler has suddenly developed a very loud, very regular click. The control panel is also clicking. When I switch the boiler off, the clicking from the boiler stops, but the control panel keeps clicking and blinking. Resetting the control panel has no effect. The controls on the control panel no longer work.
Any idea what has gone wrong?

Hi,
I've fiddled around a bit more, and I have a bit more information on the problem.
My controller has 2 sets of controls; one for hot water, one for central heating. The hot water controls are working fine, and the boiler comes on at the right time and heats the water as it should. The problem is on the central heating side.
The controller has now stopped clicking, but is continuing to flash rapidly whenever I put it to any of the "on" positions (on, auto, all day). The boiler doesn't come on, even when it is set to "on" or "all day". If I get the central heating controller to the off (which takes many pushes of the select button) then the flashing stops. But obviously there is no central heating.
Any thoughts?
