Ideas/solutions?

I have a room in my house with concrete floor, all the decorating has benn done, and I am ready to fit the floor. I was wondering if there is any way i could run audio cable for future surround sound on the floor so that i can use it when I am ready

The main thing is I want to avoid ruining any of the decorating

any ideas on how to do this, I was thinking chisel out little channels for the cable on the floor and have some sort of sockets on the wall for connection, but i do not know how to do this without wrecking the plaster

this sounds like an impossible task so maybe some alternatives to doing this would be appreciated

Are you replacing the skirting.

If so cut a channel in the skirting about 3/4 the height and depth. Offer the skirting upto the wall and at the points that its the furthest from the wall (they are never flat, fix a large headed screw into the wall a bit lower than the height of the skirting. Place the skirting into position against the screw and hit it. This will mark exactly where the srews are. Cut a T slot into the skirting and fix over the screw heads.

This gives invisible fixiing, whilst allowing fairly easy removal to place the wiring behind.

Rather longwinded and fiddly but thats what I did and not a wire to be seen apart from where it enters and leaves the skirting

You can buy skirting from homebase or B&Q etc that has a profile allowing cables to be run behind it. Then when you want to fit a speaker somewhere just pop the cable up into it.

good idea ABN with the skirting but the skirting is already on and the screws have been filled over and painted, i don't really fancy going back and removing the skirting - but on the subject of skirting there is gap between the floor and skirting, could I stuff the cables in there instead? also i have discovered wireless surround sound on ebay which will mean that there will be no wires between the front and back and I think this could be the solution
