Identify heating controller....

OK, having had a very useful response to my query on a neutralizer in my dual fuel system I'd like to ask if anyone knows anything about this box? It's the controller which turns on the central heating pump only when the hot water gravity feed gets hot enough, and has two heat sensors, one on flow and one return to the tank coil.

It seems to have failed in that the pump is turned on all the time, and I am not sure that the sensors are in the right place and confused as to why it needs a sensor on flow and return.

Problem is that Hi-Glow exist but don't seem to have anything to do with this box, and as for the neutralizer I can't find anything like it on the web. Anyone any clue as to who made it, and where I can find any further information - like an installation manual, calibration information, or a circuit ?

Probably made by a company that has been liquidated and has no connection with the company now using the name. You could look at the records at Companies House on line, free.

If so, there would be no chance of getting any information unless you happen to find someone with the same controller who has kept the manuals. Almost certainly there would be more effort involved in getting it to work as intended than in replacing it, unless the method of operation is intuitive or there's a problem with a sensor.

Are the 'sensors' actual sensors (thermistors, thermocouples) or thermostats?

Heating Innovations are the only company I know of making a similar device, but theirs seems to be thermostat controlled, rather than by an electronic controller.

The sensors are 3 pin integrated circuits so none of the above ! The temperature measurement still works OK though in that the bar graph shows the right temperature, its just the pump switching which is duff.

It's the 21st century now. You need to re-set your sun-dial.

That controller is actually quite sophisticated, compared to most of the thermostat controls on heating systems. It's probably knackered though.

Thanks, I'm fully aware of which century we inhabit. I thought hopping two centuries forwards in one go might give the op a nose bleed.

Thanks, I must have a nose bleed, the technology is 80's and uses through hole and bog standard op amps and presets. No indication of function or calibration however.

For the 21st century I would expect a microcontroller and SMT devices at least.
