Can anyone identify this, probably very old, TRV? I've seen one like it called the Draton TRV4 but it's not exactly the same and I'm keen to be able to replace the existing one without any messing about with the pipe or rad. The problem is the little brass pin is stuck almost fully down and although there is some movement, no amount of tapping will release it. There's a fair bit of scale around the pin too, so it's best to replace I guess.

I could ask the Draton people directly of course. I suspect its an early version of the TRV4 and hopefully the dimensions of the fitting is the same for the newer model.

Thanks for any help.

It looks like a TRV3 (predecessor to the TRV4). You will be able to replace it with a TRV4 without any problems.

Thanks, that's good to know. Just while I'm at it, I've read about replacing the gland seal. Would that be the little black assembly with the pin imbedded in it? Could I just replace that bit (although I see that I might need a special tool to do it)? Same old question though, would a TVR4 gland fit the earlier TVR3 unit. Thanks for the help so far.

As far as I am aware the gland seal is not replaceable on the TRV3.
