Hi all, just introducing myself, have been a service engineer for water softeners/RO/filters for various companies for the last 30 years, providing it's not a Kinetico I can probably advise/help.

Hi Haga,

What make and model would you recommend please for a domestic installation?

Thank you.

Am just looking to reinstall my water softener having moved house and removed the w/s.

The nearest and only drain for the softener is an undersink drain but the drain trap has a spigot fitted similar to what is installed for washing machines. The w/s manufacturer tell me that connection to a spigot does not achieve the necessary 20mm air gap and should not be used and they recommend a standpipe which is fine but I cannot get the standpipe in the sink cupboard as it will have to come up to at least the height of the sink overflow and the sink bowl encroaches on the space.

Any ideas as the cupboard next to the sink is the dishwasher and I can't put the standpipe anywhere other than in the sink cupboard. The drain

This must be a common problem.
