Can someone please tell me what the function and/or purpose of the Ignore Button is? Does it block a particular post or block all posts from a particular person or what?

Stops you from seeing all posts from the person you have on ignore.

However:
1. It t hen tells you that you are ignoring that person and provides options to see his/her post.
2. If someone quotes the post you will see it in their post anyway.

Possibly! Maybe two (or should I say one?)
