Ikea worktop with B&Q units

Hi folks,

Looking at the cheapy solid wood worktops at Ikea because they are half the price of solid wood elsewhere.

Only problem I see is that they are 62cm deep compared to normal B&Q worktops at 60cm deep....

Can I just trim 2cm off the backs of the worktops or will that be a bad idea?

why trim them.

If you leave them at 620 m/m, you can have more room at the back for plumbing/electrics, very useful.
Or leave an overhang at the front, so drips miss your doors/drawers.
Either way you will have a larger work surface.
