Hi

Am desperate for any advice. We just had a new water tank put in so thankfully now don't have any leaks.

As a twisted turn of fate, the ancient boiler is now playing up. We followed the instruction to put it back on and the flue lit and it sounded fine for a couple of seconds but then it shuts down. The overheat thermostat button on the top appears to be stuck in the boiler and I'm wondering whether this is the problem. Just a nasty coinsidence that it happened at the same time as changing the tank. Hot water did pass through the pipes so I don't think it's blocked.

Any ideas grately appreciated...

the flue lit
You need a terminology check. If the flue did light and not the burner then you have big problems.
Sounds like; for starters :- In order of likeliness
1 there's air in there somewhere or
2 maybe the pump is stuck.
3 Possible boiler stat problem

IF
The overheat thermostat button on the top appears to be stuck in
then that sounds like its ok. Normally if this was the problem it would 'click' on when you push it and before that the boiler would not light at all
