immersion and lights have gone

Yesterday some of the lights in my flat went. Today, the immersion has stopped working. I know that the two should be on separate circuits. Also, the bulbs are fine and the element in the immersion was newly installed a year ago. It's also operated using a timer so it is not on continuously.

First Question:

Is there a fuse in the timer for the immersion?

Second Question:
Is there a possibility that one problem is related to the other?

I've noticed that the TimeGuard light is still on so assume the problem is not that. Is it possible that the the immersion heater feeds off a separate circuit to the main fuse box where the fuse has gone.

Any one any ideas as to what is causing my immersion to be a problem?

are you on a split cost supply such as economy 7 etc?
