Hi guys,

I have a fairly new (a few years old) Ideal hot water tank.

I had to replace my immersion heater about 8 weeks ago as it was tripping the switch. The one previous to that was 11 months old.
the switch tripped again and i noticed that the thermostat in the tube was wet. now the switch has tripped again and again, there is water getting into the thermostat sleeve/tube. What is going on??

Obviously, the thermostat pocket is leaking, unless water is entering via some other route. Even then, I'm surprised it is tripping, because the water needs to find its way into the stat itself, which is completely sealed at the bottom end.
yes i would have thought so too.. the electrical area of the immersion is bone dry. this will be the third immersion in 10 weeks or so. the first two were the same brand.. hardly a manufacturing defect though??
