Hi,
I recently had a new element installed into my immersion heater with also a timer to set it on/off.
however now the water is no where hear as hot has anyone got any ideas?

thanks

thermostat set too low.

Under the dome cover of the immersion element will be a stat thet you adjust with a screwdriver. You can set them from about 30-80deg c, although the new ones will not allow more than 60 even if the scale says it will.

You possibly had an old immersion that did allow hotter water, and this is what your used to?

i dont know what the old immersion allowed, but ive set the new one to max 80deg c.
Will see what happens now, the tap water is hot enough, but not through the shower!
will check with new setting.
Its not damaging having it on max is it?

thanks for your help

I expect it will be limited to 60 anyway, even though you have cranked it up

80deg is very hot, immersions are normally set to 60 as standard. It will not cause any probs if it is higher - just if it boils!! (100)

There's a risk of scalding someone if they put their hand under the hot tap!

The other reason for 60C is that it's much less likely to fur up if you're in a hard water area - the reccomendation is usually 60C in hard water areas, 65C if it's soft.

Cheers,

Howard

the shower water was fine now, will turn it down a bit to around 75/70 and see what its like then. i i just want to make sure i dont damage anything!
