Hi there,
I am a new member and was wondering if someone could help. I am trying to find out what the best timer switch for a hot water immersion heater would be. I am helping out a disabled friend who is in a wheelchair so doesn't have to go back and forward to the immersion switch, and would like to set his hot water to go on at night. Also, is this work notable to the local authority and or a certificate to be issued? It is hard to find an electrician in our area to carry out jobs as small as this. I would appreciate some advice

Thanks

I recommend the Horstman Economy 7 Quartz Timeclock.

You should be able to find one for between £50 and £60, and they last nearly forever.

It's a simple enough job, and isn't notifiable, because it doesn't change the characteristics of an existing circuit, but it would be best undertaken by someone who's known to be competent with electrics.
