Improve appearance of outside of house

Hi guys

Doing up a 3 bed semi throughout at the moment which soon enough will be my home.

Recently took and old crappy porch down as have replaced all windows and front door it looked out of place.

Porch now down,.there's a black line where it was, presumably some sort.of adhesive, some lintel showing and some brickwork which was on the inside.of the porch is now visible painted white

Our house looks in keeping with neighbouring houses, but someone suggested Hardie board , Im not opposed to it at all but the Mrs worries it would look out of place to neighbouring houses if we used that.

Any other suggestions? A new canopy to cover black adhesive? I'm open to suggestions have attached some photos of how it looks currently

Either a canopy [door would benifit from having additional weather protection] or a upvc flat plinth in white over the door would tie in with the white frame.
