Just replaced shower switch for neighbour, Unscrewed front plate and plate came away leaving switch body (or rather part of it)behind. Both supply live and feed live cables were welded together. Both terminal screws were loose, only burnt bit holding cables in. Fortunately both cables had enough slack to enable cut back and reconnection. If PIR had been done this would have been eliminated.

You would like to think so but it really depends on the person carrying out the inspection and test.
I certainly would have found it as would many of the regular electricians on here.

The problem is, the property is not residential but a hotel. I also found another shower switch with loose terminals that needed replacing and three light switches that needed changing. Luckily that was all he needed.

Has the place had a PIR or are you doing one?, if you've found those problems I'd definately suggest the place needs checking out
