Incoming Cold Water Supply

Could do with some advice.

What is the maximum distance you can run into a flat from the communal area before you need to put a stopcock on the supply, could do with running to the cylinder cupboards but some are 3-4 metres away?

Also are the individual supplies from the main meter room generally run up in copper to the flats or MDPE.

Each "dwelling" needs its own isolation, double check valve and dran off cock.
Distances aren't statutory.
Copper is the norm though MDPE could be used if it's shielded from UV.

Thanks, so if there is a leak in the flat on the length of pipe before the stopcock etc. then presumably it would have to be shut off on the 'secondary' isolation valve in the communal cupboard for that flat?

Surly the stop cock should/must be where it enters the property / flat.
As practical

Yes, there will be a stopcock where it enters the flat, but, there tends to be another isolation point on each separate supply within the communal meter room.
