Increasing socket height

I have a gastly looking single socket that is embedded amongst the skirting and looks awful

I want to increase the height of the socket so I can get new skirting

Ive unscrewed the face plate and it appears that there are three cables coming into the socket from below (not ideal)

Can I use cable connectors of any sort to add a length or cable to increase socket height?

What options do I have?

I had some like this in my house, luckily I pulled enough up to move them above the skirting board.

Looks like one cable is a spur to another socket. Do they all run down? Can you prise up a floorboard to see if there's much slack underneath & where they come and go??

My thoughts too.
Lift floorboards, fit maintenance free junction box (Ashley, eg) and run single cable up to higher socket position.

If you cut a piece of sheet galvy/aluminium to fit within the box, fixed with faceplate screws and skimmed over it could be used as the junction box

...and how do you propose that he makes the connections of the conductors in the old back box?

I don't see a lot of difference providing the cable is securely clipped.

To meet the maintenance free regulations BS EN 60670-22 you need an ASSEMBLY that meets that requirement.
If you go for Wago then the compliant assembly is Wago connectors plus a WagoBox.

Not Wagos buried in an old socket box.

Dig the box out and use a Hager H803 box.
