Went to start the dishwasher today and the power light did not illuminate. I changed the fuse in the plug and, upon reconnecting the plug, there was a flash and a bang. Closer inspection (with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight) revealed a blockage in the wastepipe and some redsidual water in the sump, drain and the base of the machine around the motor.
Clearly, electricity and water aren't the best combinations, but where do I start to find out what blew....motor, element, internal fuse etc.....and why didn't it blow the plug fuse?
