Indesit Jetsteam washing machine on/off button

can anyone help me. I have an Indesit Jetstream 1400 XC front loading washing machine. The on / off button won't stay depressed. It was an intermittent problem that has now become permanent. I used to be able to sort it by turning off the power at the wall and pulling the plug out and putting it in to another socket. I have checked the sockets and they are all ok and have have checked the plug and it is ok. but now I can't get the machine to turn on and wash as the button won't stay depressed at all.
any ideas would be greatfully appreciated.

May be the switch or an interlock.
