Whenever we put the washing machine onto any wash cycle the programmer stays there and does not move onto the rinse or spin cycles. The machine washes OK but the programmer has to be manualy moved on to complete the full wash cycle. Once you manually move it onto a rinse cycle it completes as normal.
Thanks in anticipation for your help

Most likely the heater has failed, common problem

Not an expensive repair, an engineer will charge you in the region on £60 to repair it, unless you call out Merloni (indesit) then you will be looking at around £100.

If you have access to a multimeter you can test this for yourself.

PULL THE PLUG OUT FIRST, DO NOT WORK ON THE MACHINE LIVE !!

The remove rhe back screw and look at the bottom rear or the drum, you will see the heater (looks 2 inches wide with 2 wires plugged in to either end and 10 MM nut in the centre it) Pull off one wire and put your meter accross the terminals to check for continuity.

If you have nothing then it's dead.

Had a similar problem. Seems like the temperture control hasn't reached the desired setting so just keeps on going till it does. Faulty heating.

Thanks for the information - I did the checks as advised, purchased a replacement heater element and fit it to the washer. Everything seems to be working fine now.
Thanks again for your help.
