Hi

I have an Indesit IWD7145, that's suffering from a loud clicking from the bottom of the machine when spinning.

I've found it's actually the body/frame (underside of machine where the shock absorbers fix to) that's cracked. When I press the metal around where the shock bolt fastens, I can make the clicking.

I'm handy, but not handy enough to be able to weld some new metal on the area. The metal looks fairly thin so I guess it's a design feature for it to fail eventually.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Can you sandwich the existing damaged metal between two new pieces of steel/aluminium (widely available on ebay) and bolt them together. Just need a good cordless drill and hss bits

Might work and cheaper than a new washing machine.

Blup

Will the shock absorber move to one of the other holes where there is no crack?

Then you can drill a hole through the crack and pout a bolt through it.
