Indesit WD12 Dead, Deceased, Pushing up the daisies! - RIP

Does anyone know why an Indesit WD12 Washer Drier should just DIE mid cycle? Door opens OK but the last wash is still undrained with the dial at the spin section.

I've checked the obvious... power, fuses, etc... but I don't feel I know enough to start taking the machine apart.

Is there anything obvious I should do before I call in the engineer?... or the undertakers?
