A few weeks ago occasionally when the missus went to close the door it would refuse to shut and all of the lights on the front would flash on and off continuously. When she managed to get the door to shut (after a few gos) the lights would all go out and then the machine would work as normal. Now all the lights have started to flash permanently whether your are trying to shut the door or not from the moment the machine has been switched on at the mains even if has been left off for a while. Ironically the door now shuts although doesn't cancel the flashing lights as before.

Other than taking the top off and giving everything a good jiggle/poke etc is there much that can be done or does this point to a major failure of something?

How good are you with a soldering iron. It needs a new cap cost less than a pound or you can send off for a recon pcb. There is a thread on here somewhere regarding the cap and maplins rs do them.

Hi rocks,

Thanks for replying, what's a cap? Do you mean a capacitor? If so can you expand a bit further? I can solder a bit and would give it a go if I know what to do.

Farnell appear to have a minimum order value for credit card orders of £20? Would I find one at Maplins or elsewhere? I've had a look at Maplins online, couldn't see one though! :( Any other suggestions?
